The process of service discovery is finding service in the registraite centre according to user's request. The existing service discovery methods can be divided into two categories: First, syntax-class services that use the standard WSDL description of services, use keyword matching to search services. Second, the semantic level of service discovery, most of them based on the description of the upper Ontology can achieve the automatic matching and semantic search. These two methods can not effectively support the user based on functional description of the service.With the rapid development and application of Web service technologies, how to discover Web services based on functional semantics has already become the most urgent problem to be resolved. But in practice the existing Web service discovery methods are not mature, and cannot cope with such kind of requests very well. In this paper an effective and feasible approach to Web service discovery based on functional semantics is proposed. The Web services functional semantic description model is first defined, which provides a unified manner to semantically describe the function of Web services for service providers and customers. In order to avoid semantic heterogeneity, the domain-oriented functional ontology is built. Depending on the ontology the functional semantic annotation mechanism is proposed to further eliminate the semantic difference between the descriptive terms used by services providers and customers. Based on the above efforts the matchmaking between Web services and requests is realized. Furthermore, the Web service description language based on functional semantics is designed.In this paper an effective and feasible approach to Web service discovery based on functional semantics is proposed.The framework of the sub-word processing, service publish module, service discovery agent, matching algorithm carried out a detail design.First,in sub-word processing,using CSW system achive sub-word statement.Second,service publish module:publish service functional semantic descripation to functional semantic description database.Third,service discovery agent:with the divide and rule idea,use hierarchical model agent,improving the utilization of information resources.Fource,matching process:dividing the matching process into two steps:the match the object between service providers and user's request.the match of the operation.it improves the efficiency of the service available.The results of experiment prove that such a kind of Web service discovery method is feasible and effective.
