As a key technology of web service, web service discovery is the critical part of web service systems construction, and meanwhile it is a precondition to implement service reusing and composition. At present the mainstream approach to web discovery adopts the service matching based on the UDDI framework. However, UDDI register center only offers the search route through key words, lacking in the support of semantic information. Besides, WSDL language is a syntax level language and lack of the semantic description of web service functionality information, so that the service matching is only based on the matching of key words and grammar levels rather than realizing the matching based on service functions, thus causing inaccuracy and incompleteness of the service.In response to the deficiency of present web service discovery technology, the paper proposes a solution to the problem– the approach based on discovery of semantic service , which elaborates on the key of service matching from two aspects of function description information and nonfunctional description information respectively. Based on the analysis of the current calculating method, the paper advances the progressive matching calculating method mainly on the basis of semantic matching of service function, which carries on a computation on the similarity between Service Category, Text Description and IOPE, resulting in the matching between demand service and ad service. What should be emphasized is that the article introduces the concept of"semantic distance". By calculating the semantic distance between concepts, the similarity between them can be calculated, and this exactly compensates the deficiency of rough level division by traditional computation; Meanwhile the degree of matching between distinction service and demand service of fine grit can provide the users more convenience to select the needed services.In order to testify the service matching computation based on semantics, the article designs service discovery archetype framework. After subjected to pretreatment, the users'business demand description forms the demand service in accordance with OWL-S Profile standard, then being analyzed by OWL-S API; therefore it takes out the information concerning Service Category, Text Description, Inputs, Outputs, and so on. Furthermore, the information obtained above can be regarded as the judging conditions of matching computation, so as to testify the feasibility of service discovery approach based on semantics.
