The optimization of wireless parameters, a process to enhance the communication quality, the average function and equipment utilization of a network in operation, is realized through adjusting part or all of the network' s wireless parameters according to the features, traffic and flow of the actual radio communication wires and cables. The setting and optimization of the system parameters, a vital part in the GSM system, plays a significant role in the operation of carrier networks. This paper, with the Unicom network in Nantong City as an example, provides a detailed explanation of the important radio system parameters and of their setup and application theories. CU C2 and CRH, as one important parameter for the access and location updating, has direct influence on the signal strength of the mobile phones in the residential quarters. Power control parameter setup may lower the power that base stations and mobile phones need to transmit signals, reduce interference between neighboring residential quarters, optimize the radio environment, improve the communication quality, reduce the disruption of calls caused by interference and prolong. the standby time of mobile phones. The handover parameters, the most important ones in the optimization process, has a direct bearing on the handover speed of transmitting signals among the residential quarters, and can avoid the disruption of calls by handover the phones to the residential quarters with the best communication service. At the end of the paper examples are given to show the application of parameters configuration in real network optimization.
