With the improving of theory and development of appliance, the application of induction heating is broader. With the increasing of the frequency, the power loss of switches can not be neglected either. It brings such problems like: reduce the power efficiency, shorten the life of switches. As a result, it is a vital problem faced in front of the development of power electronic. The foundation research of this paper is to provide a novel control method called Asymmetrical voltage control(AVC), drew from the analysis of the induction heating appliance using IGBT as switches. The AVC control method can be achieved controlling the drive signal of switches so that different control strategies can be obtained. By comparing the switch loss of IGBT, a new approach to develop the mid-high frequency induction heating power can be realized. This paper discuss the optimum method to obtain the induction heating winding with lower working loss at the same time.The design of the control circuit is also introduced in the paper. By demonstrating the possibility of the parts using, the analysis and explanation of peripheral circuit are provided as well, which helps to prepare for further experiments.By demonstrating and proving, the basic structure of this asymmetrical control method can be confirmed, which provide a novel feasible project for induction heating power control. The loss caused by hard switch and the low efficiency of power can be overcome by using this control strategy.
