Based on analysising FPGA's configuration modes and configuration methods in detail, an idea and a design scheme of protable FPGA programmer are proposed in the paper. The programmer's hardware which uses ATmega128 as its core was designed. The protable programmer consists of PDIUSBD12, SST39SF040, SPLC501 and so on. The system's software was divided a few of parts which can be transferred by each other. This paper chooses GCC as software programming environment and uses language C to programme. The function that transfers FPGA configuration documents from PC to the protable FPGA programmer and then configures the target FPGA system is achieved. This protable FPGA configuration programmer could conduce to FPGA's abroad application and exploitation and make FPGA system's field update more convenient; demonstrate FPGA to students in high school more expediently and make classroom teaching vividly; help FPGA teaching equipment salesmans to improve their work efficiency when they show the equipments to their clients.
