Godson2F CPU is a general-purpose processor that is ready for mass production and application. To contrast with the application of the other periphery ASIC, the design of Godson2F based board has the characteristic of high frequency, high degree of difficulty and extensive application area.Based on comprehending the architecture, the interface and the electric characteristic of the Godson2F CPU completely, the purpose of this paper is to develop the Godson2F CPU based high performance evaluation board which includes abundant peripheral interface, and via the development of the evaluation board, the design method of the key module and the design procedure of each phase of Godson2F CPU based system design are given.At the beginning of the schematic design, based on the system function and the design requirement, the hardware architecture of the board can be instituted; afterwards, the chip selection and module design for each functional module should be completed, during the system design, based on the characteristic of the evaluation board and the requirement of each functional module, the system resource can be designed and assigned, and finally, the schematic design of the key module and system can be started. In order to solve the signal integrity problem in the PCB design, this paper brings a layout mechanism of restriction in advance and simulation subsequently, firstly, the main causation of the signal integrity problem and the usual solution are analysed; secondly, based on the timing requirement and the the signal characteristic of the interface on the evaluation board, the PCB design restriction is constituted, under the guidance of the restriction, the placement and the layout design are finished, finally,in order to optimize the signal quality, the key high-speed signals are simulated by the professional simulation tool, the mechanism improves the design reliability of the motherboard which contains high-speed signals. The debug flow, method and the fault model of the evaluation board debugging are given in this paper, the power supply and the key clock signals are tested, analysed and optimized. Lastly, the performance of main memory,the network,auxiliary Memory,the graphic engine and the PCI bus are tested by the corresponding benchmark, Stream, Netperf,Hdparm,X11Perf,IOZone, and so on.The test result of the system performance and reliability indicate that the design of the Godson2F based evaluation board have achieved the prospective goal, so the Godson2F CPU based evaluation board can be provided to the cooperative company for performance evaluation and the product exploitation, and the design method of the key module and the design procedure of each phase of the evaluation board can be extensively used as the reference design in the other Godson2F based board design. The successful design of the Godson2F based evaluation board plays an advantageous role in the industrialization of the Godson CPU.
