Advances in wireless communication, integrated circuit, micro_eletro_mechanical system technology have enabled the development of low_cost, low_power, multifun-cational sensor nodes that are small in size and communicate untethered in short distances, this have indeed improved the wireless sensor networks. WSN has the rapid deployment, self_organization and fault tolerance characteristics. The above described features ensure a wide range of applications for sensor networks such as: military, environment, health, Industry control and so on. In the thesis, the application of WSN in personnel orientation system of underground coal mines is described, and the Move Adaptive Clustering Hierar- chy is designed for the environment, which excel in network topology management, reduce data transmit collision, and achieve personnel orientation.IEEE802.15.4 protocol is defined by wireless personal area networks workgroup in IEEE ISOC. The protocol has very enormous similarity with wireless sensor networks in low_cost, low_power, low_complexity application demand. The MACH is exactly implemented on the protocol, using "super frame" located in MAC layer. Firstly, the basic conceptions of wireless sensor networks are summarized , 802.15.4 protocol are introduced detailedly. And then the Move Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy is put forward adjusted to nodes arbitrary motion. The thesis detailedly anatomized whole process of the algorithm, from design idea and realization on 802.15.4 protocol, finally simulate algorithm by NS2 and analyze the results. In the end, the article detailedly introduced the personal positional system which one of applicatons for WSN, including hardware platform, software program and so on, the demonstration system validated the algorithm and personnel orientation function.
