With the development of precisely guided weapon, as the last protection barrier of antimissile system, super close-in defensive weapon system is meaningful in military. It is very important to plan and develop army weaponry scientifically by the application of simulation technology in the development of super close-in weapon system.Firstly, this paper analyzes general functional requirements and characteristics of military graphics simulation system and then demonstrates the functions and performance requirements and technical parameters of the system. Secondly, in-depth study of the mathematical model on super close-in defensive weapon system and technology of Visual C++ and the OpenGL is done. After establishes framework of the software, the functions of viewpoint roaming, three-dimensional environment generation, reading three-dimensional model files, collision detection and explosion simulation is achieved.Because all these functions are implemented by object-oriented program design method, the software will be easy to be maintained and expanded.Software process is according to rapid prototype model. After quick analysis, develop a prototype of simulation software rapidly. In the course of testing prototype, communication and feedback is strengthened, repeated evaluating and improving prototype is done in order to reduce misunderstanding and adapt to requirement change. And eventually, a satisfactory software is developed.The campaign process is clearly simulated. In the initial stage of development of super close-in defensive weapon system, this graphics simulation software can be applied to conduct a preliminary assessment and improve combat effectiveness of the defensive weapon system. It enables policy makers and system designers to understand the combat capability of the defensive weapon system intuitively. It plays a supplementary role in the further optimization of distribution units and all the development stages of the defensive weapon system, so that policy makers and weapons designers can make performance criterions adjust to the demands of actual situation. In the subsequent development stage, in order to further the inspection of defensive weapon system and the reasonableness of technical and tactical performance, campaign process can be simulated in the simulation environment by user and designer of this weapon system. Design and development can be done together because of simulation software's application in the entire development process of the defensive weapon system, thereby the developmet period and cost can be shortened and reduced.
