In the future broadband wireless access systems, Wi-Fi, WiMax and 3G may provide telecommunications applications. From the support of mobile users, 3G networks can provide best signal switch effect compared with Wi-Fi and WiMax technologies. But from aspect of transfer rate, WiMax has the incomparable advantage of Wi-Fi speeds than 3G Network. From the single base station coverage aspect, the largest is WiMax, 3G networks followed, WLAN minimum. Since WiMax (16D), and Wi-Fi do not provide support for high-speed mobile user, in order to achieve full Network coverage, integration with 3G networks is needed, but 3G networks can not achieve high-speed broadband IP data coverage and roaming boost up due to the system overhead and complexity of restrictions.By analyzing Wi-Fi, WiMax and 3G respective technical characteristics, development mode and current situation, this paper presents the current realization of the large-scale broadband wireless access is the integration of Wi-Fi, WiMax and 3G systems. Wi-Fi for the realization of the high-speed mobile data access in hot-spot areas; WiMax to achieve a wider range of high-speed data access with making hot-spot areas in series, to solve the "last mile" communications needs. 3G for the phonic communications and low-speed data wireless communications in the entire network.Based on information about the new integrated broadband wireless access technology, by analyzing in-depth of technical characteristics of 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMax, author of this paper provides the establishment concept about integrated broadband wireless access system. With participation in design of Yunnan provincial Revolutionary Committee wireless coverage system and implementation of the project, ultimately, the correctness of the design has been proved.
