Intelligent transportation navigation system is a system which exploits computer technology and communication technology to improve the traffic ability, traffic resistance, safety factor of the road and deal with the emergent accident. GIS is pivotal technology of synthesis dispose and analyze spatial data. It can gather, storage, search, modeling, analyze and output spatial data effectually. The efficient intelligent algorithm is important tool to work out the shortest and optimal path in navigation system. It can work out the shortest and optimal path by analyzing data, and by present traffic information. It is very important in transportation navigation system.By introducing to the recent development of ITS, GIS and intelligent algorithm, based on MapX control and Visual C++, an intelligent transportation navigation system is proposed based on simulative optimization algorithm—Max Min Ant System. The system works out the shortest path and optimal path by Max Min Ant System. The system realizes basic map operation, map query, shortest path and optimal path's query and view, by simulating the real-time traffic information, combining GIS technology.First of all, this paper describes the developing status of similar technology in home and abroad. And it introduces the background and significance of choosing this problem. In succession, the paper introduces the demand analysis, overall design, detailed design and system implementation. And it discusses the functional requirement of the system, the involved technology and its developing, the design of the electronic map, database and function module, and the software realization of the system. It indicated by experiment that the system has better and intelligent querying and navigating functions.
