As the development of value-added service of mobile communication, the disadvantage of traditional fixed-content voice service in aspect of real time is increasingly obvious. At the meantime, more and more new telecom value-added service emerges in the convergence between computer network and telecommunication network. The streaming-media function in IIP (Independent Intelligent Peripheral) was brought out in this situation. Via the function, users can get the vast real time information in the computer network anytime and anywhere just by cell phone.This novel discussed the design and implementation of the SIP-based streaming-media function in independent intelligent peripheral in the aspect of theory and technique. In the novel, the streaming-media function in IIP is regarded as a type of "basic ability" provided to the service level. So the focuses are requirement analysis, design and implementation etc. In contrast, how to make use of the ability in the service level is beyond the range of this novel.This novel can be divided into 3 main parts architecturally.The first part includes chapter 1.In this part, the novel will introduce some basic concepts in the evolutional order of "Intelligent Network -Mobile Intelligent Network - Independent Intelligent Peripheral". The content of this part is the base of other following chapters.The second part includes chapter 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. In this part, the novel will describe the streaming media function of Independent Intelligent Peripheral in the order of "requirement analysis - architecture design -detail design and implementation" in the software engineering view. In requirement analysis, this novel analyzes the streaming media function of Independent Intelligent Peripheral in both functional and nonfunctional aspects, defines the software coverage, performance target, bottleneck and development environment. Requirement analysis is the base of the following design and implementation.In architecture design, this novel describe RN (Resource Node)—the actual container of streaming media function in Independent Intelligent Peripheral and put forward the RN-rebuilding architecture design method. "Divide and conquer" is the main principle of this part. The project is divided into 3 sub-modules: SIP client, RTP transition and RTP monitor.Detail design and implementation is the improvement of architecture design. The content of chapter 4, 5 and 6, such as important data structure and Algorithm, is focused on the detail of 3 sub-modules.The first part includes chapter 7. There is a prospective view of IP-IIP and streaming-media in IP-IIP. IP-IIP is evolution of IIP for the IP oriented evolution of core network of mobile communication. Bringing streaming media into traditional IIP can improve the development of IP-IIP. It is believable that steaming media and IP-IIP own a flourishing future in the 3G times.
