The article is basede on the research of an automation company in taiyuan which named "The coal mass measure and control system in ball mill using multi-sensor information fusion".The multi-sensor information fusion is a new research, although its research is incompletely, but there have been acquired some successful applications in military affairs, navigation, industry control, remote sensing, medical treatment, robot and so on field. The article validate the feasibility of the application of multi-sensor information fusion in industry, base on the research of the basic theory and the synthesis of some successful applications, give the effectively method for the design and evaluation of the multi-sensor information fusion system.Ball mill is an significant equipment in thermal power plant, it is one of the most energy consumption equipment. Presently, most of the measure and control of the coal mass in the ball mill are not automatic, the equipment are basicly operate by operators with their experiences, then the ball mill is inefficient, higher energy consumption, the worker's workload increased because of low degree of automation. As the ball mill empty and full load operation, the energy consumption is little difference, therefore, the key to reduce the ball mill's energy consumption is increasing its output, improve its working efficiency. It is need to control the coal mass in the ball mill at the right level, let the ball mill always work in the best conditions. To achieve this goal requires detect the coal mass in the ball mill in real-time, then the mill will be controlled with the feedback of the result.The article research the operation characteristic of the ball mill at the first, research the status of the detcetion and control of the coal mass in the ball mill, compared the advantages and disadvantages of the detection and control methods of the ball mill, Through multi-proof, the multi-sensor information fusion technique was applied in detecting and controlling the coal mass in ball mill. The TI's DSP TMS320VC5502 was adopted to based the hardware platform for fusion in the system, every part circuit was designed, the PCB board was drew, the debugging of the system was completed.The signal from the code sensor, the differentia Pressure between Import and export and the negative pressure of the import were applied As the fusion parameters, the appropriate fusion algorithm was choosed, the design of the corresponding software was completed, and the Simulation for BP neural network algorithm and fuzzy theory algorithm were completed. According to actual needs, the coal feeder controller was designed, and the user interface onfiguration was completed, the debugging of the system's hardware and software were completed, and "The coal mass measure and control system in ball mill using multi-sensor information fusion" was completed. The installation and debugging on the scene are cngoing.It was can be seen through the preliminary laboratory's and field's debugging results,The Working of "The coal mass measure and control system in ball mill using multi-sensor information fusion"was steadily, the performance was reliable, the detection and control for the coal mass in the ball mill were realized, and it is able to control the mill in a more efficient conditions, the output of the mill was increased, the energy consumption was reduced, and the goal that detection and control for the coal mass automatic were achieved.
