Mining, a major industry in China's national economy, also relies on manual labor for underground work, because automation and information technology haven't been applied universally. In recent years, the mine accidents have occurred frequently as an alarm to this industry. Taking account of the complicated underground work environment, the monitor staffs on the ground must use advanced monitoring equipment to get the position information in the mine of the workers and vehicles in time, then real-time monitoring, management and scheduling may avoid losses which are produced by staff negligence, tunnel plugging and vehicle collision. Once the accident occurred, monitoring equipment can also help the monitor staff programm the rescue according to the victims'position, in order to avoid further disaster and reduce the loss to a minimum. In this thesis, a set of RFID system has been researched and designed for down-hole operations management, combining the hot RFID technology with traditional industry. The wireless communication capabilities of RFID can provide the efficient, safe and practical solution for mine management. Underground system contains the reader on the laneway's wall of monitoring points and the tag carried by worker or vehicle. When the tag traverses some reader, the reader identifies the tag and return tag's information to the ground control center through RS485-bus. In this thesis, the design of entire system has been done, including circuit design, antenna design and software design. The coupling mode of this system is electromagnetic coupling in the frequency of 2.4 GHz, which can identify target far. The PCB board of the system circuit has passed the debugging, and achieved prospective design goal. Two new printed monopole antennas suitable for reader and tag respectively, with all-direction radiations, can be printed in company with system circuit, which realized the integrative and miniature design and reduced the production cost. The application software is programmed in Visual C++, and provides real-time monitoring and control interface terminal for monitoring stuff. In the thesis, Ad Hoc network is importeded into the RFID system, which add the routing mechanism in every node, formation of a small and simple self-organized network of RFID. The RFID network is further expansion for applications of RFID systems, which can search for some nodes when the accident occurred, and play the role of supporting rescue. The entire system is a communication bridge between monitoring stuff and mine workers on the basis of RFID technology, which provides an advanced and a practical solution, and has important practical significance to improve mine production-safety.
