The semantic Web service technology that combined Web services and semantic technology has bright future with the development of World Wide Web. But the current technology was still not mature, the discovery mechanism of services is one of questions that urgently need to discuss. The semantic-based Web services discovery is the core of semantic Web services, its pivotal technologies include marking description language of semantic Web services, matching algorithm based on semantic services and the discovery architecture based on semantic services. Surrounding how to storage the information with semantic Web services, how to describe semantic services using ontology technology and how to advance the accuracy and effect of service matching, deep researches from that three aspects are made. The primary works in this thesis are listed as follows:Firstly, the related concepts of semantic Web are introduced and ontology language OWL-S that describes services are emphatically discussed in this thesis. The movement pattern of Web services and the existing discovery mechanism are analyzed. The insufficiency of the existing Web services is pointed out.Secondly, to resolve the problem that the traditional discovery mechanisms of Web services lack to support semantic information, the construct and storage of the ontologies are researched and the instances of the ontology are constructed. On the basis of reseaching the mapping mechanism that from service ontology to register center, a mapping method that expanded OWL-S before registering to UDDI is presented to describe the quality attribute of Web services and expand the service's semantic information.Thirdly, to resolve the problem that a lot of match algorithms only attending functional match or similar match based on inheritable relation of concepts result in performing service matches in coarse granularity, a three stages of Web discovery strategy is proposed and the existing algorithm is improved. The strategy employs the idea of classification to match the services with their category property, IO parameter and quality property and offers an effective way for Web service discovery.Finally, a semantic web services discovery prototype system called MySWSM is designed in the thesis . This system embody the capability of storing semantic information and feasibility and validity of the semantic match on the basis of extending UDDI with semantic information.
