Nowadays,analog TV is still in use,and digital TV set top box(STB) is aeconomical method to receive digital TV program.To develop digital TV STB is veryimportant to the digitalization of TV&Broadcasting.The purpose of the paper is todevelop the digital TV set top boxes used bythe domestic broadcasting operators anddigitalcableTVconsumers.ThispaperfirstintroducesthebasicconceptsofdigitalTVSTB,MPEG-2andDVB standards;then descripts the hardware of source decoder of DVB-S STB,nextpresents the content of improvement of audio&video performance of DVB-C STB,intheendthispaperalsointroducestheFLASHdriverofDVB-SSTB.This paper is mainly about the hardware of digital TV STB,the research is ontwo kinds of digital TV STBs:digital video broadcasting-satellite(DVB-S) STB anddigital video broadcasting-cable(DVB-C) STB.These two source decoder boards arebased on STi5518 and QAMi5516.The research on DVB-S STB is mainly aboutdigital audio output circuit and the developing of driver for FLASH.The digital audiooutput circuit canprovidedigital audiooutput signal inaccordwithAES3 format;Thedriver for FLASH is developed for M29W320ET FLASH,and is the function set thatcan be used bythe upper part of the software system.The research on DVB-C STB ismainly about the improvement of audio&video performance.In this part,first we gotfoundamental understanding on audio&video performance,and then we used PSpicefor theoretical analysis,and worked out the conclusion according to the experimentresults.
