With the breakthrough in relevant technical barriers, cell phone, as a communication tool, is becoming more and more powerful. The experiences of cell phone manufacturers and service providers on product R & D and operation become more sophisticated and complete. Cell phone has become an irreplaceable part in peoples'daily life. It is no longer merely as a means of communication, it is more representative of a new vogue.The development of cell phone inevitably brings rapid development to its related value-added services. At present, the business such as SMS, MMS and CRBT can not meet consumers'needs. They require more new consumption contents. Just as a new industry, cell phone games meet their demands. In 2004, Mobile Treasure Box officially began operation. After more than two years of development, cell phone games market and related technical have developed to a certain stage, carrying platform and propaganda system have already matured. Compared with traditional cell phone single games, cell phone network games, with the way of interaction among multi-players, are soon to be favored by many gamers. Challenges between the players make the game more attractive.In this market environment, this paper analyzes the current situation and trend of the development of cell phone games, including the achieved results, the problems and prospect for the future. This paper gives a detailed exposition on view of the specific technologies involved in the development of cell phone games. J2ME technology-based cell phone game can run on any cell phone equipment which supports Kjava platform. It is a good embodiment of the characteristic of cross-platform. Cell phone network game has become a trend in the future development. MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) is the main direction of cell phone network games. Through the research and development of a MMORPG cell phone network game "magic world", this paper conducts a study in every part of the network game, such as interestingness, technical feasibility, stability, balance and other aspects of the system. It designs a good object-oriented structure for the game, improves and optimizes the related technology and algorithm in game client to a certain extent, designs a communication protocol for the interaction between game server and client. Finally, this paper gives a systematic, comprehensive analysis of the game by conducting lots of balance tests, load tests and safety tests, proposes the needs for further improvement and prospect for the future work.
