Design And Implementation Of Network Layer Topology Automatic Discovery

With the rapid development of computer network, computer network has been penetrated into every domain, the network management problem becomes more and more prominent. As the base of network management, network topology discovery is an indispensable part of network management. This paper mainly researchs network layer topology discovery, and presents a design and implementation for network layer topology discovery based on a practical project.The paper firstly analyses the network management and the problems about it at present, and point out the essentiality of topology discovery function. The paper presents a topology discovery algorithm. According to the network protocols used in topology discovery algorithm, we categorize them into two classes. They are topology discovery algorithm based on SNMP and topology discovery algorithm based on primitive protocols. Using the algorithm the paper implements a network topology discovery system that running in a network environment. Then the paper analyses the architecture of the system and presents the design and implementation of system modules.At last the paper simply evaluates movement result of the system.
