Texture editing is a more popular field of research both at home and abroad in recent years. It plays important roles in computer vision, image processing and computer graphics. A main reason is that texture editing has very broad application fields, e.g. design of textile products, soft furnishings, textured finishes, car interiors, film production effects and electronic games.Texture editing normally involves generating different texture characteristics of the new images, with complicated painting, cloning and wrapping operation over the texture samples. At present two-dimensional texture editing technology research has been achieved good results, however, its input and output are single image (also is called two-dimensional texture) which does not reflect the light and the corresponding change in perspective image texture changes.Three-dimensional surface texture editing theory mainly study three-dimensional surface texture characteristics under different illumination and viewing conditions , and in accordance with three-dimensional surface geometry features, and the reflective properties of the basic elements of the changes to generate new texture images with any size, arbitrary illumination conditions and arbitrary observation angle which can produce the most realistic effects. This paper proposes and analyzes two methods of three-dimensional surface texture editing which are based on texture element texton and wavelet transform. The main idea is according to the neighborhood self-similarity feature of three-dimensional surface texture characteristics representation map to generate new textures under multiple illumination directions and viewing conditions by performing one-off single editing operation such as painting, cloning, wrapping. In the end, multiple experimental results of this study prove that the three-dimensional surface texture editing thesis based on wavelet decomposition and texture element texton is effective.
