The water leakage is continuously puzzling each water supply enterprise. According to the statistics of related department, in our country, the city public water supply system pipe network loss rate has gone far beyond the stipulation 7.8% targets at present. Developing the advanced and reliable water pipe leakage localization instrument will help the pipe-line maintenance personnel find leaking point fast and accurately then repair the pipeline promptly. Therefore it has vital significance regarding reducing water resources waste.We used TI Corporation's digital signal processing chip TMS320VC5416-160 as core processor and MCU as host facility, used mutual correlation time delay estimate method as core localization algorithm, have completed the leaking point positioning system design, realized the water leakage sound signal gathering, the correlation analysis, localization results demonstration and so on. The water leakage sound signal characteristics and the correlation locating principle were introduced in the paper, the design thought and their realization of the system software and hardware were introduced with emphasis, the two realization methods of the mutual correlation time delay estimate algorithm were compared and separately implemented on the system hardware platform. The simulation results under CCS environment confirmed the algorithm's feasibility. Afterwards the system simulation test results as well as the localization demonstration results in simulating scene environment were offered and analyzed. In the end, we summarized the main achievements and questions of this paper, and made some proposals and forecasts for future work.The experiment proved that the leaking point localization system designed in this paper has high processing speed, accurate localization result, low power loss, simple operation, and thus has very high practical application value.
