Replace analogue control method with digital control, which can eliminate temperature drifts but analogue control always can't. Digital control have many advantages such as easy to change control plan with programming and easy to achieve new type control strategy, at the same time it can reduce number of components, simplify hardware destruct so as to improve the system reliability. And FPGA has advantages of compactness, economy, high speed and modulization so it is very suitable for digital control of power supply.According what was said above. This paper presents a new method of a high speed periphery chip based on FPGA. MCU/DSP is the control chip and the FPGA as the assistant to deal with the periphery affairs. This design on the one hand can improve the effective of control chip on the other hand it can reduce the number of single components to improve the system reliability.Chip's design and implementation procedure of the scheme are detailed discuss in the paper, including software simulation, chip designing and PCB designing. And EP1C3T144C8 in Cyclone device family of Altera was used to complete the special component. The program was finished with VHDL in Quartus II compiler. It's based on power supply digital control system, the design including PWM generator, over-voltage and over-current protect, serial port, etc. It is easy to realize modulization, flexible configuration and can provide PWM with high precision. The PWM waveforms with high precision, adjustable frequency and phase were realized in this design, at the same time the over-voltage and over-current protect and serial port were both realized too. So the periphery chip was very flexible.
