Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is a kind of precision measuring instrument. The performance of its motion control system has become the important guarantee for the quality of products. The characteristic of CMM's motion control system is studied basing on the MATLAB/Simulink in this paper. The fuzzy + PED algorithm is designed to improve system's sharp overshoot of the step response. The main contents are as follow:The pressure distribution equation of the pneumostatic-air-pad assembled on the pneumostatic-guide-way is built applying classical mechanical theory. The relationship between the friction and its' affecting factors during the motion is obtained.The main components of CMM's motion control system are selected. Some software of the motion monitor and the motion control are developed.All parts of CMM's motion control system are modularized and parameterized. The characteristic under three different control structures is studied. Trapezoid acceleration-deceleration-control method is used to improve system's overshoot of the step response is simulated under the frequent start-stop state of the motor. The sharp overshoot of the step response is solved by using fuzzy + PID algorithm.
