Ultra-Wideband(UWB) technology has been recently proposed as a significant solution for high-speed short-range wireless communication systems as it potentially combines the reduced complexity with the low power consumption, the low probability of intercept and the immunity to multipath fading. In this thesis, based on simulation of the physical layer defined in the proposed IEEE standard 802. 15.3a, research focus was put on synchronization technology and its whole synchronization scheme for the Direct Sequence UWB(DS-UWB) system.This paper firstly introduced the protocols of the proposed IEEE802. 15. 3a and 802. 15. 4a. Then the simulation of the PHY layer was carried out by using MATLAB does. Furthermore, the performance of the system in different coding, modulation and channel scheme was discussed according to the IEEE802.15.3a protocol. After that, the research emphasis was put on the critical technology of UWB system. An integral scheme of synchronization was proposed based on the protocol IEEE 802. 15. 3a aimed at the better algorithm and low complexity for DS-UWB system.
