Grid System offers users a computing environment which is reliable and of non-centralized management, the environment is composed of geographically distributed and heterogeneous resources connected with Internet. Programming and running parallel programs in grid is an important study field of grid computing.In this paper, we analyse a variety of grid-based MPI parallel programming frameworks. According to the special features of parallel computing tasks in communications and multimedia, we present a novel grid-based message passing interface framework, called as G-MPI. In this framework, two nodes, where one is inside cluster and another one is outside of cluster, are able to communicate effectively with each other. It supports the monitoring on parallel tasks of grid in G-MPI. G-MPI provides re-scheduling scheme to handle exceptions occurred to specific tasks, this scheme will save lots of time when an abnormal task appears. G-MPI framework supports parallel applications written in C or C++ migrate from HPC system to grid without reprogramming. Some parallel applications based on G-MPI verify the G-MPI framework is effective.
