Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can be designed and developed because of development in sensor technology, Micro-Electro-Mechanism System (MEMS), embedded system, modern network and wireless communication technology. It has been considered as one of the most important technologies in 21st century due to its bright future in application. More and more researchers focus on WSNs.Design and implementation of sensor node which is the physical unit of WSNs is one of the key issues in WSNs. The lifecycle of WSNs is one key factor which limits WSNs' application, while improving sensor node's performance is one important aspect for extending lifecycle. In order to save cost and extend lifecycle in the application of WSNs, from the perspective of improving performance, ATmegal28L was chosen as CPU, CC2420 RF IC and its matching circuit were chosen as RF module, FLASH memory AT45DB041B which is low power and nonvolatile and DS2401P were chosen as IC. A balun which converts the difference output of CC2420 to single input of the single-ended antenna was implemented in combination with transmission lines. A novel low power, low cost and small scale node was presented. The RF modules of two other nodes which are based on CC1000 were expounded.The experiment results show that the novel node consumes less energy and has a longer communication distance compared with the generally used MICAz. |
