This paper emphasizes on the study and simulation of Optical Burst Switching (OBS), especially about the burstification algorithm and FDL mechanisms. The simulation model of OBS edge node is designed and implemented in this paper. Independent queue, Min-Burst-Length -Max-Assembly-Period (MBMAP) and Just-Enough-Time protocols are selected as burst assembly algorithms. The formats of Burst Control Packet (BCP) and Data Burst (DB) are given. And then realtionship between burst delay, burst loss and burstification parameters is studied according to this model. In this paper, Fiber Delay Line (FDL) is introduced into core nodes of OBS as conflict solutions. When all data channels are unavailable, FDL will be used to delay the data burst, and during the delay, available data channel may be found. A simplified LAUC-VF mechanism is selected as the scheduling mechanism of FDL. The simulation results show that FDL can reduce the burst loss probability to a certain extent in the case of heavy network load. |
