Peer-to-Peer(P2P) technology is very hot on Internet today. P2P Systems alwayshave thousands to millions of users because of good scalability. Validating the correct-ness and predicting the behavior of such large-scale system are very di?cult withoutsimulators. The lack of suitable simulator greatly encumbers the research of large-scaleoverlay networks. We designed and implemented ONSP(Overlay Network Simulation Platform) tosolve the problem. ONSP is based on parallel discrete-event simulation and parallelsthe simulation job among computers by MPI. ONSP provides a event call-back in-terface for researchers to implement their application logic easily while keeping thesimulator application-independent.Next, we simulate several P2P systems on ONSP, including P2P file sharing sys-tem BitTorrent, P2P VoIP system Skype and P2P streaming media system. While simu-lating, we use some parameters to model the network and the user behavior. key words, with semi-colons used in between to separate one another.
