Design And Implementation Of Multimedia Ring Back Tone Service Based On IP Multimedia Subsystem

Along with the coming of the 3^rd generation, users expect more on the mobile telecommunication. Not only the stable voice communication, they want various ways of communication involving data and multimedia.Aiming at these requirements, the 3GPP brought out the IMS standard in the R5 release version. IMS provides confluent fundamental architecture of multimedia network based on IP, as well as environment with great network services delivery capability, which enable the operators to provide several multimedia services based on Internet application and services for users. These multimedia services could collect audio, image, message, data and web based technologies together then serve for the wireless users.Under such circumstance, Multimedia Ring Back Tone (MRBT) service involving voice, image and video will become the most shining point of mobile value-added services. The thesis mainly focuses on this MRBT service, which has five important features. Firstly, MRBT could push multimedia, not only music but also videos. Secondly, MRBT could identify different callers and play different videos accordingly. Thirdly, MRBT could play different videos according to the user's status. Fourthly, at anytime anywhere users could record the videos by the terminals and set as their MRBT. Fifthly, MRBT could be configured and managed by both the terminals and portal.The thesis presents a solution of MRBT service design and implementation. The features, service process and scenarios of MRBT are introduced at first. Then follows the investigation of the design and implementation of MRBT service based on IMS, including overall design, database design, media server communicating APIs, service logic and service management portal. At last the test environment configuration and the functional test are discussed.
