Switch simulator is an important component of our full-system simulator. With the development of computer and telecommunication technology, embedded-system network application is becoming more and more popular, which demands the more effective development environment. While the traditional development method confine the software developer due to the dependency on the real target system in debugging application. In order to overcome the bottle-neck of the software development, it brings out the full system simulator and simulated network technology. The simulated network simulates the real target system and target embedded network so that the developers can begin software design and code debugging without the real hardware and in-board emulator. The use can improve the efficiency and lower the cost of the development activity.The simulated network based on full-system simulator is currently one of the hot subjects in embedded area. There is lack of experience for entire network simulation, owing to the difference technology among the products at present. Aiming at this question, this paper focuses on the network simulation based on Switch Simulator.Switch Simulator grounds on the functions of real switch and give some expansibility, including the data transmission, frame checkout, Mac_port map, and simulation of the communication link,physical port,link-level communication for none Mac nodes and synchronization. This simulated network is characteristically independent of the full-system simulator technology, and carries out the communication and synchronization of multi-simulators nodes on multi-hosts. First the brief introduction to structure and implementation of the full system simulator is given, and then the discourse presents our "Network Simulation model" and "Synchronization Model based on Ethernet Frame" on model-level; From the models, design and implement the Switch Simulator. During the designing, we give some solutions for the special questions in simulation environment, such "Ethernet Frame over IP" protocol, link-level communication for none Mac nodes, etc.At last, the thesis presents the verification of the system by client program, and points out the further research which is required in next stage.
