AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) is the transport device with some autonomous capability. It has important value of application in the automatic logistics system and factory automation system.AGV is the product of hign-degree automation. The related technologies of AGV include the body structure of aiming specific use, the mechanism of transferring cargo, the technology of route guidance, the detecting technology of cargo positon, the technology of avoiding collision, the driving and control technology.Further researches include the technology of muti-vehicle coordination and optimization control and intelligence control. In this paper, the development and key technology are summarized and generalized, and the feature and shortcoming of existing technology are also analyzed. A small AGV system of simulating cargo sorting is designed in this paper. The body structure has four wheels, the left and right wheel are drived by two DC motor separately, the front and back wheel are WanXianglun, and it can change direction flexibly and move fast. The photoelectric sensor guides AGV along the designated path. The cargo position is discerned by the counting means. ARM is an embedded processor with hign performance. The control system of AGV adopts the MCU LPC2210 which bases on the ARM7 nucleus, the numerous resources on-chip of LPC2210 can achieve all the detecting and information processing and control function of AGV conveniently. The correspondence connection is established by the serial ports of LPC2210 and the wireless correspondence module, and the AGV is controlled by PC.The relevant performance test of AGV is conducted under the simulated environment of lab, and the performance index fills the design demand.
