With the development of the industrial automation, enterprises pay more attention to thetechnology of materal transportation automation. Nowadays, most materials are transported manuallyor in the state of semi-automation in China, it can’t satisfy the new demands due to its inherentlimitations. The automated guided vehicle (AGV), on the other hand, meets the new requirementsdepending on its unique advantages, such as security, reliability, high efficiency, flexibility and so on,has great potential for application.On the basis of further research of relevant information of AGV and logistics automation, thispaper introduces the basic principles, the developments and the research actuality of the AGVtechnology. At the same time, this paper points out that it is necessary to develop the AGV technologyaccording to actual domestic demand. Due to the disadvantage that magnetic guided AGV cannot getstation messages from guide path, this paper takes radio frequency identification technology as siteidentification technology innovatively, experiments shows it can completely replace the traditionalmode which uses magnetic marker and magnetic marker sensor. By the theoretical analysis of theAGV wheel layout form and the structure of driving and guiding unit. This paper designs a drivingand guiding integration structure. It has lots of advantages, such as compact structure, good effect inshock buffering, small deflection when traveling, and access to double drives mode. Based onembedded control technology, this paper completes the overall design and technology development ofthe magnetic guided AGV control system. It has accomplished the system hardware design with highreliability, referring to the function and characteristic of LPC2292and EMC technology, accountingthe rough environment in industry. Further more, after quantities of experiments and analysis, thispaper has accomplished the software development of the magnetic guided AGV control system andoptimized control parameters such as sampling frequency, satisfying the demands of Real-time control.On the basis of the analysis about advantages and disadvantages of the actual load transfer, this paperdesigns a long stroke push-pull load transfer which can works in two sides. This load transfercombines the advantages of both side-fork load transfer and push-pull load transfer, such as strokinglong, working in two sides, high security and flexibility.The magnetic guided AGV system designed by this paper has got successful application inJiangsu Logistics Automate Equipment Engineering Research Center, passing the8-hour-running testwith no breakdown. It proves that the technical proposal raised in this paper has its own effectiveness and feasibility.Finally, this paper summarized all the research work and achievements and put forward theprospects based on the experimental experience.
