Active Data Warehouse (ADW) has been a brand-new stage in data warehouse evolution process, it has integrated real-time data extraction technology and active mechanism, greatly reduced the delayed and passive characteristics of traditional data warehouse, provided quick reaction capabilities to information,thus become one of the main developing direction in business intelligence area.Nowadays, researches on ADW still stay upon the starting stage. It's an important but not yet well settled problem to carry out good agility, universal, extendible, low cost and smooth implementation characteristics that collaborative ADW requires peremptorily.In this paper,several research works are done for this problem as follows:1)The basic components and characteristics of ADW are analyzed and summarized. Then we put an idea that ADW is an enterprise application integration pattern based on data integration. According to this point, the main method of dealing with the challenges of ADW is how to integrate the application system, data warehouse and the components of ADW.2)In this paper, Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA)is introduced in the data warehouse field, thus we proposed a SOA-based Active Data Warehouse Architecture (SOADW). the interface and hierarchical model under SOADW is given, and the main process and method how to solve the ADW problem under SOADW environment are anayzed.3)The solution is designed under SOADW environment for the main function of ADW: a) WS_Notification specification is proposed to realize real-time data transmission at the base of combination of event-drived architecture and SOA;b) apply the CWM to solve the standardization of heterogeneous metadata under SOADW environment; c) collaborate all of the atomic services by applying the approach of service composition under SOADW environment; Furthermore, the result of SOADW is defined as the composition of OLTP service, in this way the utilization of ADW result is extended, and the maintenance, dynamic selection and exaction of result is settled properly. 4)The rule service is the key mechanism in SOADW when realizing active decision-making, Combining ECA principle, multi-dimensional operation in data warehouse and the characteristics of the rule execution in ADW, we present an active multi-dimensional analysis rule model.Based on this model an active multi-dimensional analysis rule (AMAR) grammar is proposed as the description form of the ADW rule . AMAR can express the complex ADW rule clearly, and easy to be validated and executed.This paper introduces and summarizes the main work by a dynamic price-making instance. And an implementation method of SOADW is summarized through this instance.
