Nowadays, Management Information System (MIS) has been widely used in many aspects of the social life, such as business, education, medical treatment, E-government, etc. However, users have new demands with MIS when the enterprise organizational structure or the business requirements changed. In order to solve these issues, enterprises need to integrate the information systems in conceptual layer. From the perspective of the Domain Data Model (DDM), the integration of the domain organization is the key problem which hasn't been mentioned in the previous theory of DDM. Therefore, we put forward the distributed domain data model (DDDM).Firstly, we analyzed the background of this subject, and then introduced the basic notion of multi-database system (MDBS) and the related work of DDM. After summarizing the new challenges of the DDM, we addressed the DDDM.Secondly, we expanded the data structure of the original DDM, and then introduced the formalization description and graph representation of this structure. This dissertation also defines the distributed basic domain operation (DBDO), distributed domain relation operation (DDRO) and the access control in DDDM (ACinDDDM) based on RBAC and access control model in MDBS.Finally, we introduced the design and implementation of distributed domain database management system prototype (DDDMS) in detail. A demonstration was also introduced in order to demonstrate the functions of DDDBMS and the practicability and validity of DDDM.This dissertation provides a solution for the new issues in the development of MIS under the distributed environment, which is a deeper research and refinement of the original DDM theory. It promotes the research on approaches for the development of MIS, and is valuable for the research of the same kind.
