Web services provide a Service-Oriented Architecture builded on the existing Internet standards. As a new generation of distributed applications, web services are loosely coupled, language neutral and platform-independent. Web services provide an effective means to share business data and system module through the Internet to achieve the Enterprise Application Integration. Therefore, it is theoretical and practical significance to use web services in laboratory management information system(LabMIS).After simply analyzing web services, which are applied to the LabMIS's architecture, making LabMIS share resources and functions possible, so as to achieve the sharing of resources and reusing software module. In addition, according to the universities basic course teaching laboratory evaluation criteria issued by the Ministry of Education and LabMIS's functions, web services functions are designed and implemented by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and MS SQL Server 2005.Then the toolkits WSE3.0 which is recommended by Microsoft to support WS-Security and other norms to achieve the SOAP message security is analyzed. And the WSE3.0 built-in security policy assertions are described in detail.WSE3.0 development tools are used to realize web services' user authentication based on username token and use X.509 certificates to implement the SOAP message's digital signatures and encryption security, at last web services based on message level's security is achieved. Finally, the Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Testers tools are used to test the LabMISWebServcies project which containes functional test and load test to ensure the normal operation of LabMIS WebServices project.
