Ad hoc networks are self-organizing networks that can be organized anywhere and at anytime without the aid of centralized administration. Due to this characteristics, Ad hoc networks is used more widely, such as disaster recovery, crowd control, search and rescue, and automated battlefields are typical examples of where ad hoc networks are deployed. Self-organized network, don't need any established network infrastructure.Ad hoc networks are self-organizing, mufti-hop, topology dynamic-changed wireless networks. This particularity made it impossible that the technology of traditional wire networks used directly in Ad hoc networks, due to this, many new protocols and technologies are required for ad hoc networks, such as MAC protocol, routing technology, QoS system, safety, channel connection technology and so on.This article first briefly introduced Ad the Hoc network's definition, the research present situation, the network characteristic, the application domain, face a series of questions as well as prospects for development. Then based on Ad the Hoc net's network environment, has carried on the multianalysis to the AODV route protocol, and compared route protocol AODV, DSDV, DSR through network simulation software NS-2 to, in the end-to-end average delay, route expenses, packet delivery ratio, discovered that the AODV protocol exist heavy transmission delay problem, and with increase of the node number the average delay have obvious increase. Therefore this article finally from improved the AODV protocol transmission delay aspect to make the improvement to this protocol. Bring forward the time delay mechanism in the link repair process, through carries on the simulation to the improvement protocol, validated the protocol after the improvement has the very big improvement in the network average transmission delay aspect.
