Study And Practice Of Display Technology Base On Soft IP Core SOC Platform

With the development of integrated circuits and integrated system, higher requirement, such as flexible software hardware configuration and rapid development method, is set up to embedded systems when used in special applications. Meanwhile, Linux solutions are being rapidly used in embedded systems. Therefore, soft core and open source SOC-based embedded Linux platform, with flexible software hardware configuring ability, will be more and more used in the embedded field.LEON FPGA platform is an open source software and hardware platform based on SPARC V8 architecture. LEON CPU includes free open source IP cores, embedded Linux system software, and other developing environment. Such an incorporate developing platform provides a great convenience to develop embedded systems. But, LEON platform only provides a limited support to its display software system. For example, it lacks a proper GUI (graphic user interface) software, and the flexible display solution is not enough abundant. Again, the tradition software development method could not meet embedded development requirement. Such being the case above, this paper focuses on the display technology of LEON soft core SOC-based embedded system, in the view point of system vertical levels to develop SOC software with some super software development methods.The main work of this paper includes embedded Linux developing environment, low level driving program writing, Porting and improving GUI. Evolving model, a model to be suitable to develop embedded software, is selected in the developing methodology in this paper.This paper provides an improved LEON Linux development platform, which can be used in various GUI-needed applications, such as numeral photo casing, embedded instrument and meter.
