The purpose of this paper is to put forward a reasonable and feasible facial skin image feature detection scheme, with ever mature image processing algorithms and data processing methods that can be applied to the detection of facial skin color and facial skin spots. Different from past skin detection algorithm targeting skin features of the local profile images, the paper's design aims to carry out the detection on static images of face. This study envisaged in succession for the local area feature detection methods at the same time that the scope of the study will be extended to the entire facial region, and transferred the foci of concern from local features to the impact of these local features have in the face region. In this paper, the research methodology is that by the comparing various existing algorithms and tools that may apply in this paper on the facial skin characteristics, including choosing the right one or ones to use and with these methods and tools devising a set of scheme that is capable of detecting facial skin features which is concerned in this article. In this paper, the expected results for the adoption of a proposed use of static facial images to detect the facial skin characteristics is to prove that the feasibility of detection of facial skin feature via image processing. The meaning of this paper is to lay a theoretical foundation of the actual skin characteristics detection system, prepare the skin images detection with no monitoring.The first chapter recalls on the history and development of the status quo of skin color and skin spots detection, then recalled the development process of the application of image processing technology to the skin characteristics detection, learned about several important skin characteristics detection ideas, and reviewed the related work of predecessors in this field. The second chapter introduces the origin, development and mathematical basis of the technologies of human facial skin image feature detection and gives detailed comparison of the variety of color space to indicate skin color, skin color judgment models used for the discrimination skin pixels, several regional segmentation algorithms used to distinguish skin spots from normal skin color, and explains the reasons of the final proposal on the selection of tools and algorithms, and gives a relatively test result. Chapter III specifies skin detection solutions for human face evaluation of skin color. Chapter IV specifies skin detection solutions for human facial skin spot detection. Chapter V briefly sums up the full content of the work, and raises the prospect of achieving human facial image features automatic detection system.
