IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) was defined in release 5 for the first time by 3GPP, the marked characteristics of which is the SIP-based session controlling and access-irrelevant. End-to-end QoS guarantee for multimedia services is a serious issue in IMS. This paper introduced the overall architecture of IMS. The policy-based QoS management in IMS and the end-to-end QoS signaling flow in session setup procedure were analyzed. Analyzed the IP QoS model and constructed the DiffServ simulation model with different queuing algorithms, validated and compared the different characteristics of queuing algorithms through the network simulating. Proposed an IMS realization network architecture for QoS conceptual models, designed a scheduling model and validated the characteristics and feasibility of the scheduling model and the conceptual architecture by simulation. The work will help to the implement of the end-to-end QoS in the future work.
