With the computer, network and the manufacturing sector's continuous development, people have more extensive and deeper pursuit to the products. Digital product design has become more complex, a single digital system can not be designed to meet the needs of customers. In order to design the complex products to meet customer demand, products' designers must be using a variety of disciplines under the digital system to do the co-design. Digital systems to working together resulted in that all kinds of heterogeneous platform must frequently exchange the information between the design and manufacture. However, because the field of heterogeneous systems is so different, heterogeneous data structure exists greater differences. The current method of data transmission can not be effectively applied to the collaborative designed heterogeneous systems. Therefore, how to achieve heterogeneous digital system interoperability becomes a hot issue of current research. The paper study this problem and research new method to solve it, its main work is:The paper researches the architecture based on Layered semantic model. Against the inefficient between data transmission, and the difference between interfaces of the heterogeneous systems, the paper proposes layered semantic model to translate the interfaces of systems, and designs the neutral interface specification for integration of CAD/CAE/PDM system. And then, using the Web Services to design the layered semantic model, get the high efficiency during the data transmission.Based on the ontology, the paper designs the architecture of functional interoperability between heterogeneous systems. The method solves the heterogeneous digital system interfaces. Against the difference between different platforms in different disciplines and areas, the paper design shared ontology and local ontology. Through the local ontology, paper packages the services between internal systems in same area, and uses shared ontology to describe the other areas' services set. And then, use XSLT to translate the internal systems' local ontology in the same area.Use Web Services to construct the prototype system of the integration of interoperability between heterogeneous digital systems. By the feature of co-design between CAD/CAE/PDM, the paper defines the muti-interfaces based on semantic, constructs the layer semantic model and the communication mechanism. And the paper uses Web Services' integrating technology to design special neutral interface specification, and packages the services in different area. At last, the paper achieves the functional interoperability between SolidWorks, UG-NX and AutoCAD, Fluent and TeamCenter system.Finally, in order to verify the research result's feasibility, the paper applies it to the special CAD/CAE/PDM systems. During the designing process, the paper uses the systems' second development and Web services to transmit the information between different systems.
