The Development Of Real-time Network Monitoring System Based On SNMP

With the development of the network technology, people need more high-quality network services. As the critical technology of ensuring network running stably and reliably, the network management has been an important study about network technology. This study comes from a developed item of CBC (China Board Communication) Ltd. which is a network management software. For the demand of the corporate business, a real-time monitoring system based on SNMP is designed and implemented.Firstly, the network management technology is studied, introducing the function of network management and some relevant network management technologies. SNMP is analyzed weightily and its working mechanism is studied deeply. Secondly, on the basis of the theory of SNMP, a network monitoring system model is designed. This model adopts the structure of kernel/plugin. A tree algorithm is developed to find out the failure of the host. Six configuration variables are defined to optimize the tests of the management software. For the disposal of the service state, the concepts of soft and hard state are proposed and the adopted actions between the states are designed, such as warning, event handlers, and log etc. Finally, according to the design scheme of network monitoring system, we implement the model of network monitoring system and analyze the process logic of the system kernel, the commonly used plugin commands and the way of sharing data.
