This paper mainly discusses channel equalization for Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting (DTTB) system. A series of improvements and new algorithms are derived from the conventional training sequence-based channel estimation algorithms, including PN correlation-based estimation,frequency domain decision feedback,LS(Least-Squares) algorithms etc. For the frame head mode 1 and 3, a method of channel estimation with Modified PN sequences is proposed, which can eliminate the influence due to the nonideal orthogonal property of PN sequences and has a half computational complexity of the traditional Iterative Interference Cancellation method. Also, this paper presents an improved method of nonlinear interpolation for the fine channel estimation under a time-varying multipath channel and equalization in several blocks which can effectively mitigate ICI caused by the channel variations with low computational complexity. This paper outlines a complete channel estimation scheme suitable for DTTB system.
