DTTB (Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting), as one of the three digital television transmission techniques, is the most complicated representation for its complexity of ground condition and availability of mobile receiving. Many countries have done research on it for a long time, and they had developed corresponding transmission systems respectively. Nowadays, there are three terrestrial broadcasting standards, e.g. DVB-T (Europe) and ISDB-T (Japan) based on COFDM tech, ATSC (U.S.A) based on VSB tech, and domestic integrated standard: ADTB-T, based on single carrier system, proposed by Shanghai JiaoTong University and DMB-T, based on TDS-OFDM, proposed by QingHua University. Every standard has its unique advantages and disadvantages. And all focus on its channel estimation and equalization. The aim of this article is to evaluate, analyze and summarize various methods of channel estimation and equalization, both in frequency pilots based DVB-T and time-domain synchronous pilots based DMB-T system, furthermore this article proposes several novel channel estimation methods, and gives software simulation results and analysis. This article is also aimed to give a good direction of OFDM receiver's FPGA design. There are several innovations in this article: first of all, it proposes a novel method using FIR low pass filter in CP-OFDM based DVB-T...
