Fiber laser is a new type of solid-state laser with widely investigation in recent years. It has good beam quality and ideal focusing spot size, the characteristic of the fiber laser spot include small diameter, high roundness and regular configuration etc, moreover the repetition frequency of fiber laser is much higher than traditional laser, so, if we apply fiber laser in the domain that has high requirement of marking depth,smoothness,tractability, high quality marking job can be obtained.In the thesis, author first summarizes the basic principle of the fiber laser, then discusses the Q-switched fiber laser and mode-locked fiber laser theoretically. Advantages of fiber laser marking are analyzed and single mode output of fiber laser is also discussed in detail. Meanwhile base on mechanism of laser-material interaction, we analyze the factor which influence laser absorption, the analysis provide theoretical basis to do the following experiment. Finally, internal component's operating principle and function of laser marking system are analyzed and marking experiment with IC are finished. we analyze the factor which influence focusing laser spot diameter, laser marking power density is presented. The effects of the laser output power, pulse frequency and scanning speed are also investigated.
