In recent years, IT technology is playing a more and more important role in enterprise management. The more rapidly the modern enterprises are developing, the more changes occur in their business process, which results in the higher requirements enterprises set for the technologies of workflow modeling. By studying some of the available workflow modeling methods, we found that most of the methods can be used in the modeling of enterprise workflow, which can meet the demands from the enterprises to some extent; however, shortcomings still exist. The biggest shortcoming is that these modeling methods make the business process stable and fixed, which does not suit the fact that the modern enterprises keep reforming, simplifying their business process, and improving management all the time in order to fit into the competitive market. In order to make sure the workflow technology function well for the enterprises, workflow modeling must be a function-reconstructable and process-changeable system, i.e. flexible workflow modeling.In order to meet the demands from the modern enterprises, the thesis proposes a Petri-net-based modeling method which can enhance the workflow modeling description capacity and system flexibility. Based on the Petri-net-based technology, the modeling method takes into account the characteristics of flexible system, adds some new strategy mechanism, such as condition setting mechanism, coordination mechanism, and so on, and brings in a new modeling element, i.e. management transfer, which can realize coordination mechanism. By making changes to the triggering mechanism in the existed Petri-net-based modeling, the new triggering mechanism contains more diversity. A new triggering mechanism, named comprehensive triggering is also put forward, which can realize condition setting mechanism. The above two ways of improvement can enhance the flexibility of the modeling. The thesis also applies the new modeling method to the office automatic system of Dalian Grain Depot, namely the modeling of official paperwork processing sub-system, commodity purchasing sub-system and supervising sub-system. The official paperwork processing sub-system is also realized by programming, and thus proves the rationality and applicability of the new model. The new Petri-net-based workflow modeling method meets the demands from modern enterprises to a certain extent. The modeling enables the enterprises to better develop their business process and can push forward the informationization construction of the enterprises.
