Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a research hotspot in present information technology field. Synthesizing the sensor technology, embedded computation technology, distributional information processing technology and wireless communication technology, WSN is a novel technology in information acquiring, processing and transmitting, which has the widespread application prospect and the huge application value in military, industry and a great deal of real project application.Based on the project of the National Development and Reform Commission—Node of IPv6 Wireless Sensor Network, considering the characteristic and the design requirement, this thesis revolves mainly around the development and implementation of physical platform of the WSN. According to the actual demand, this paper has designed the hardware platform about environment monitoring sensor node and military training sensor node independently. Furthermore, the paper also designed the assistance programming and debugging tools which is suitable for these two sensor nodes. Environment monitoring sensor node is available in precision data collection of temperature, humidity and luminous intensity; the military training sensor node not only has the environmental monitoring function, but also may position the soldier which equips the sensor node through the GPS at the same time.The paper analyzes the project application demand thoroughly, proposes the overall project of these two sensor nodes hardware platform and mainly accomplished the ICs-choosing and the circuit design of hardware platform. Completing the design of the sensor node periphery module driver, final calculation is also achieved. Mostly implements the wireless communication protocol driver design under the two design projects, the point-to-point wireless communication link is consequently constructed. In view of the sensor network militarily application, this paper designed a frequency-hopping communications protocol model, thus the frequency-hopping communications are realized. Finally, by introducing the debugging of the hardware platform, based on analyzing the sensor network energy consumption, the paper ends up with some researches on energy management, furthermore, surveys on the power consumption of these two WSN nodes under different working pattern are presented.
