The concept of network coding was put forward by Ahlswede et al. in 2000. In traditional information processing method called routing, the intermediate nodes in the network just respond for copying and forwarding the information. Through permitting the intermediate nodes code the input information flow before forwarding, network coding can realize the high-point of network multicast capacity. Study shows network coding can not only increase the network capacity, but also have an important application prospect in the field of data compression, load balance, reduction of energy consumption and propagation delay, enhancement of network robustness, information security and et al.The studying field of network coding includes not only wired network such as Internet, but also wireless network such as Ad hoc network, wireless sensor network and wireless mess network. The author mainly makes researches on the application of network coding in Ad hoc networks.In Ad hoc networks, the path between the source node and the destination node is usually established througth the course of route discovery before transmission. The flooding broadcast algorithm is the usual method to realize the coure because of its simple property. The transmission of information is realized by single path between the source node and the destination node and this manner is simple and easily maintained. But heavy network load will result in fast energy consumption and invalidation of the node and even the partition of the network when serious. The althor makes a use of network coding during the above two courses in Ad hoc networks and brings forward and realizes more efficicent algorithms. The main works are as follows:1. The basic principle of network coding is presented in detail and the use of network coding in Ad hoc networks is addressed.2. A broadcast algorithm based on network coding during route discovery in wireless network is realized, which has a significant reduction of the number of packets during broadcasting in the network and improves the broadcast delivery ratio.3. A multipath information transmission algorithm based on network coding is presented during information propagation, which effectively decreases the energy consumption of per bit information and balance the network load.
