Virtual instrument is a new equipment using current computer with corresponding hardware and specific software to gain the function of normal instrument as well as the particular function of new instrument having high quality and low price. The fact of this technology is making full use of the latest computer technology to realize and expand the function of traditional instrument. Applied to experimental courses, it can reduce teaching cost and also change the experiment from traditional ones by doing experiment to verify the facts to integrated design by using hands and brain together.When applied to computer network, virtual instrument technology can show its advantage that software is instrument better, form distributed network measurement system easier and realize remote share for data and instrument so as to serve remote measurement and control.On basis of research on the present virtual instrument laboratory technology and software, a networked virtual instrument laboratory founded on multi-agent is proposed. The appearance and development of software agent technology, which is a software entity having the characteristic of reactive,autonomic, intellectual and cooperative, is the result of high developing artificial intelligence and network technology. The proposed system makes full use of multi-agent cooperation. In a cooperative network forming by multi-agent, if a user enters the laboratory to do the experiments, the agent pocessing user interaction can receive the experimental parameters that the user submits.then, it sents cooperation request to other agent in the system and chooses adequent agents to transfer experimental results for user according to user's demands.Directing at experimental request, a multi-agent with user interaction agent, cooperation agent and task agent is designed. FIPA ACL protocol is used for communication between agents.
