Now,most the measuring of appearance quality of rice in our country still relies on naked eyes, which lacks objectivity and repetitiveness,so that the rice with high rate of chalkiness, the broken grain , the crude grain and the rice with ill speckle and mildew go into the market, at the same time, it reduce the competition of Chinese native rice.To compensate these weaknesses, this research selected a kind of common rice and developed a Visual Studio 2005 assessment system of the appearance quality of rice by employing computervision technology system had visual interface and the function of man-machine interaction,and can identify the rich's appearance property characters such as chalkiness and yellow rice.The main research content as follow:1. Through comparing the dimensions of normal rice and borken rice, tow methods of identifying borken rice are studie. And a new method is presented, which can identify borken rice more effectively and accurately;2. In terms of the gray statistics and distribution information of kernel region and chalky region distribution characteristic in the kernel region, four algorithms of chalky rice are presented.This research through analyzing the area of chalkiness of the rice detects the chalk area and the chalk rice,and calculate the parameters such as chalkiness rate;3. In terms of the analysis on the hue histogram, two detection algorithms are put forward firstly: a new detection algorithm based on hue and a new detection algorithm based on BP network classification.This research chooses the first method solving the detection of the yellow-colored rice;4. A software of the measuring of appearance quality of rice by computer vision is developed on the basis of Visual Studio 2005.This software has friendly interface and can operate conveniently, which could realize the pretreatment of rice image, the segment of connect rice, the detection of chalkiness and yellow-colored rice and the classification of rice breed by BP net.The result of research shows that the system could realize effective identification of the rich's configuration and has feasibility in automatic detection of the appearance quality of rice.
