With the railway high-speed and information development, the safty and reliability of the railway power supply become more and more important. The fault section locating and isolating way of the railway Automatically Blocked Line is studied. With the characteristics of power supply in railway automatically blocked/Transmission Line, a denoted network method based on the node is advanced. The network components have been classified into four basic components, which are outgoing line breaker, switch, line and substation. Hereby, a network topology partition method is realized. After analysing some arithmetic on the location and isolation of the short-circuit fault sections in power distribution network, an improved arithmetic, which can locate quickly the fault sections accurately and meet the requirements of the on-line utility, is presented. For the single phase grounding fault, a new method of the fault section location and isolation based zero sequence current and the section zero sequence current is put forward, and the digital simulation by MATLAB 6.5 indicates it could locate the fault section accurately. After analysing the existing systems of the fault section location and isolation in power distribution network, a system based on the thought of hierarchical control is adopted. Further more, the specific arithmetic on the fault section location and isolation in railway automatically blocked/Transmission Line is introduced. At last, a railway automatically blocked/Transmission Line model is built in the laboratory, on which the diverse case of the single-phase grounding fault is simulated. The experimental data validates our theory.
