Along with technical development, people set a higher request to the video frequency program service, hoping to change traditional watches from passive into initiative, so as to realize the choice and the control of the program content, the broadcast progress and many other aspects. Video-on-demand is to meet people's needs arising from such a service. VOD (Video On Demand) is an interactive multimedia video-on-demand. It is the use of the network and video technology advantages that revolutionized the past passively watch programs, the realization of the programs broadcast on-demand viewing and arbitrary. It combines dynamic video images, still images, sounds, text, teaching courseware resources, and other information as one, providing users with real-time, interactive on-demand services and on-demand systems. Based on video-on-demand business of network, as long as a computer with Internet access, movies can be watched at any time. This paper introduces a broadband network based on the video-on-demand system design and implementation.1,The structural composition of VOD systemInteractive VOD system is composed of the front-end processing system, broadband switching network, users access network, user terminal equipment, and several other components.VOD system can not only be used to focus on the structure, but also be centrally managed, distributed processing approach and flexibilized in the selection of HFC, FTTB, FTTCADSL, VDSL, and other access methods. Users may as required need for a set-top box which can match with access interface. Through television, PC can conduct video / audio / data display and communication.1) Front-end processing system is generally composed of video servers, disk arrays, database programs, such as a broadcast control system. The video server high-speed data transmission capability ensures the large number of users on the film, video, games, business information and other services almost instantly access. Its obvious advantages are that some users may start from different time watching the same programs, avoiding highlights of the event exclusive by a user, or the situation that a user on demand, other users can only passively follow the situation. Optical fiber subscriber loop (FTTH, FTTC, FTTB, etc.) frequency bandwidth, high-speed data - or even high-definition television, and ability to meet B -ISDN development and the advantages of the information superhighway are the future direction of development subscriber loop of high-speed broadband . But because of its big investment, users are not able to bear. Therefore, we should make full use of HFC, ADSL and HDSL technology, tap potential and develop broadband services, such as VOD.The successful use of VOD system brings the convenience of users and interests. To summarize the above, the development of a Web-based video-on-demand system will have bright prospects for the majority of computer users with the promotion. This paper has elaborated the Video-on-Demand System Key Technology and the Development Process and Practice. First it introduces video-on-demand system development background, the design goals and business processes, and then a detailed description of the design of the entire system and its development process is given on the target system requirements analysis, functional description, database design, server configuration and operation, testing and maintenance.
