In recent years, the whole world changed warmly, makes the ice research becoming a hot spot. The ice is a universal natural phenomenon; it has close correlation with people. It is influenced by many factors, especially the temperature. Using the air, the ice and the water resistance contrast carries on the ice layer thickness and the water level under the ice examination. Ice layer thickness sensor and the examination system is one kind may carry on the continuously automated examination to the ice layer interior appearance and disappearance process the new ice sentiment examination system. The system had applied in China 21st and 22nd South Pole science inspection, but because the ice and the water resistance value are influence by the temperature very much. The contact surface judgment is difficult, especially the ice and water mixed layer. In order to solve this difficult problem, the paper proposed to add the temperature gradient automatic detection to the structure of ice layer thickness sensor. Then, the difficult problem which has the possibility to improve which the ice examination system to judge the ice layer contact surface difficulty at present.According to the above thought. Analyzed a lot kinds of temperature sensors and interface methods, this article has chosen the integrated temperature sensor DS18B20 which used 1-wire technology. It has many advantageous, such as the simple connection, multi-spots measuring, the alternative power supply method, measured scope broad, negative voltage characteristic.This article using the method of the theory discussion and the actual experiment, research the digital temperature sensor DS18B20. And find the algorithm to improve the precise of the temperature sensor. After understanding the 1-wire technology and its correspondence agreement which develops by American DALLAS Corporation, and the data processing technology of MCU, the article proposed the new ice layer thickness sensor and its measuring system with 1-wire automatic temperature gradient detection function. In the experimental foundation, this article proposed a method that on each time of system reset, the MCU will search the 64bit ROM of DS18B20 with the algorithm of two branches. This way is better to the system maintenance. Even if replacing the component, it can also recognize the new one and work well.The article compares many kinds of data transmission ways. This article chooses the RF module to transmit the data for long distance in South Pole. The consumer application program is explored on the platform of "KingView 6.5", which costs low, explored fast, works reliable. The system consists of the ice thickness sensor, DS18B20, MCU, RF module, KingView program to measuring the water level, the ice thickness and the temperature of different vertical height.For adding the function of temperature automatic detection with 1-wire, the new ice layer thickness sensor can not only complete to the automatic examinations of the ice layer internal appearance and disappearance condition and the water level under the ice continuously, but also may realize the temperature gradient measuring automatically at the same time. Not only the new system increased the ice sentiment examination system function, but also offered the possibility for overcoming the technical difficulties in the old ice sentiment examination system.
